In order to bridge the gap between the ever-increasing demands of Dental personnel in rural areas and widespread oral diseases and dental problems, the PMT established Rural Dental College and Hospital in 1989, with an intake of 100 B.D.S. students per year. The college has all the specialized dental preclinical and clinical departments as stipulated by the Dental Council of India (DCI). The Dental College was affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and the University of Pune till it became a constituent unit of this University.

Hostel premises has a total of Two boys hostel accommodating 540 Beds in 203 spacious rooms. For resident Medical Officers, the university has two RMO hostels accommodating 243 beds in 124 spacious rooms. All hostels are provided with an uninterrupted power supply through in-house power generators.
Girls HostelHostel premises has a Girl's hostel accommodating 1115 beds in 556 rooms. For resident Medical Officers, the university has two RMO hostels accommodating 243 beds in 124 spacious rooms. All hostels are provided with an uninterrupted power supply through in-house power generators.
All these departments are adequately staffed and equipped as per the norms prescribed by DCI for conducting effective undergraduate & postgraduate training.
Adequate Dental Laboratory facilities are provided for the training of undergraduates & postgraduates and also for undertaking research. The college also provides extension OPD services to nearby villages, which are also attended by the students and interns under the supervision of senior staff.
